Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram Biography
Wasim Akram born in Lahore, Punjab is a former Pakistani cricketer. He was a left-arm fast bowler and left-handed batsman, who represented the Pakistani cricket team in Tests and One Day Internationals. Widely regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers ever, Akram holds world records for the most wickets taken in both ODIs (502) and List A cricket (881), and was one of the pioneers of reverse swing bowling. The revolutionary nature of reverse swing initially resulted in accusations of ball tampering, although reverse swing has now been accepted as a legitimate feature of the game. Akram's later career was also tarnished with accusations of match fixing, although these remain unproven.

Wasim retired in 2003, after a brief spell with Hampshire in England. Since then, Wasim has taken up commentary and can currently be seen as a sportscaster for the ESPN Star network, and is also running shows on ARY Digital. He is married to Huma Mufti, daughter of Mr. Humayaun Mufti. Wasim and Huma have two sons from their marriage of fourteen years. Wasim has also appeared in Fuzon video as a model

Sachin  Tendulkar Career

Tendulkar attended Sharadashram Vidyamandir (High School), where he began his cricketing career under the guidance of his coach and mentor, Ramakant Achrekar. When he was young, Tendulkar would practice for hours on end in the nets. If he became exhausted, Achrekar would put a one-rupee coin on the top of the stumps, and the bowler who dismissed Tendulkar would get the coin. If Tendulkar passed the whole session without getting dismissed, the coach would give him the coin. Tendulkar now considers the 13 coins he won then as some of his most prized possessions.

In 2002, just 12 years into his career, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Donald Bradman, and the second greatest one-day-international (ODI) batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards. In September 2007, the Australian leg spinner Shane Warne rated Tendulkar as the greatest player he has played with or against. Tendulkar was an integral part of the 2011 Cricket World Cup winning Indian team at the later part of his career, his first such win in six World Cup appearances with India.

Shakib Al Hasan Biography
Born in Magura, Bangladesh
Shakib Al Hasan, (born 24 March 1987 in Magura) is a Bangladeshi international cricketer and captain of the national team. He is an allrounder, batting left-handed in the middle order and bowling slow left arm orthodox. Shakib made his One Day International debut against Zimbabwe in August 2006. In 2009 Shakib topped the ICC's allrounder rankings.

Shakib became Bangladesh's captain in July 2009 after Mashrafe Mortaza injured himself in his first match in charge. Shakib was 22 years old at the time. Initially a temporary position until Mortaza recovered, Shakib's success against the West Indies, securing his side's first overseas series win, ensured he retained the position even once Mortaza had recovered. He was named The Wisden Cricketer's "Test cricketer of the year" in November 2009. In July 2010, he stepped down from the ODI captaincy to concentrate on his personal performance. Mortaza took over until injury struck again and Shakib was asked to assume the role. Domestically he has represented Khulna Division since 2004, and in 2010 he spent several months playing for Worcestershire in England, becoming the first Bangladesh player to represent an English county.

• In June 2009, Shakib was appointed vice-captain, filling the position vacated by Mortaza

Eoin Morgan Profile

Eoin Morgan is an Irish-born Englishman with a reputation for inventive and audacious strokeplay. At the age of 23, he shot to prominence on the back of two match-winning innings against South Africa. First was a 34-ball 67 in the Champions Trophy in September 2009 which he followed two months later with an unbeaten 45-ball 85 in the opening Twenty20 of England's tour of South Africa. His bold approach and crisp hitting was reminiscent of the arrival of another English import, Kevin Pietersen, in 2005. With a blend of nous and power, Morgan looks a natural 'finisher' - a role England have struggled to fill for a decade.

A compact left-hander, Morgan grew up playing hurling and with his change-up sweeps and pulls, he has clearly taken aspects of the Irish sport into his cricket. He gained initial recognition with Ireland, averaging 52.20 in the World Cricket League, including his first ODI century, a sublime 115 from 106 balls against Canada. In the 2007 World Cup, as his team-mates impressed, Morgan disappointed with 91 runs from nine games. He joined his fellow Anglo-Irishman, Ed Joyce, at Middlesex in 2006, where he helped them to the Twenty20 Cup in 2008 and caught the eye of the England selectors.

His growing stature was confirmed when he was the only England player to be awarded a new contract at the auction for the third season of the IPL in January 2010. He was signed for $220,000 by Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he joined England team-mate Kevin Pietersen. With much expected he failed to make an impression and was soon left on the substitutes bench. However, he returned to his best for England in the World Twenty20 that followed, as his powerful shot-making and coolness under pressure helped him to 183 runs and England to their first ever triumph in global limited-overs events.

It was enough to prove he had the mettle to take his game a step higher and despite a modest first-class record he was rewarded with a surprise call-up to the Test side for England's first Test of the 2010 summer, against Bangladesh. Walking out to bat at 258 for 4, he could not have asked for a gentler introduction and showed enough confidence to pick up his first Test boundary with a reverse-sweep.

In the 1997-1998 first class cricket season, Sehwag made his debut by playing for Delhi. In the following season, he was selected to the North Zone cricket team for the Duleep Trophy. He batted very well and was thus included in the under 19 team which toured South Africa. The selectors noted his consistently good performance and he soon became a member of the national team in 2001. Although his international career had started, he carried on playing for Delhi and captained North Zone to victory in 2004-05 and 2005-2006. In 2002, his centuries helped India defeat West Indies at Rajkot. In March 2009, he scored a fast century against New Zealand in an ODI. India won the series.
Sehwag’s style of play is quite similar to Tendulkar’s. He cuts or drives spinners inside out. Square and upper cuts are his favorite shots. He often strikes the ball in the air and risks dismissals. He is often noted for his attacking aggressive style of batting.

Sehwag is married to Aarti and has son named Aryavir. Sehwag is a pure vegetarian and owns few few restaurants. He also does charity work for the UNICEF

Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir Biography
Major teams Dolphins, Easterns, Hampshire, Lahore, Middlesex, Pakistan A, Redco Pakistan Ltd, Staffordshire, Sui Gas Corporation of Pakistan, Titans, Warwickshire, Water and Power Development Authority, Yorkshire

Imran Tahir Profile

Imran Tahir is the epitome of a journeyman cricketer. In fact, he has barely stopped moving. Since starting his first-class career in 1996-97 he has racked up at least 10 teams ranging from Lahore to Yorkshire via the Titans in South Africa. He has had stints with three English counties; Middlesex, Yorkshire and Hampshire, who he signed for in 2008. That he has never remained anywhere for very long suggests a cricketer who has failed to live up to his potential, but his first-class record is impressive with a fine average and imposing strike-rate - impressive enough, in fact, to earn him a call-up to the South Africa Test squad in January 2010 during their home series against England.

However, confusion reigned supreme as later the same day the decision was overturned after it became clear Tahir was not yet eligible for South Africa. A few days later Gerald Majola, the CSA boss, admitted it came as a "shock" to see Tahir in the 15-man party and that the incident had caused "much embarrassment." It was confirmed that Tahir was not available for South Africa until December 2010, which rules him out of the tours to India and West Indies when it was originally believed in qualified in April 2009. Tahir continued to pick up loads of wickets in the domestic circuit for Dolphins, and was finally granted South African citizenship by by naturalisation in January 2011. Less than a week later, he was picked for South Africa's squad for the one-dayers against India.

Usman Khawaja

Usman Khawaja Biography
Usman Khawaja is a high flyer, a qualified pilot and will be a Test cricketer on Monday. Ambitious and ambidextrous (left-hand batsman, right-arm medium-paced bowler), Usman Khawaja, 24 in December, was born in Pakistan and moved to Sydney when three.
He attended many “auditions and rehearsals” before getting a major role in a drama titled “The Ashes”. He was in the Australian squad for England in mid-2010 and then was a standby for injured Michael Clarke and Ricky Ponting in the recent two Ashes Tests.
Now he gets his big chance, to fill Ricky Ponting’s gigantic shoes at no. 3 in his home ground, Sydney. How does he feel, filling in for the champion?
He told Peter English in CricInfo, “Ricky is a legend of a cricketer, a legend of a bloke… He’s the kind of guy that if he told me to jump off a bridge I probably would, I’d follow him anywhere. I’m not here to fill Ricky Ponting’s shoes, I’m going to go out there and try and do the best I can. To replace 12,000 runs is a big feat and I still haven’t scored any.”
I had the good fortune of interviewing Khawaja twice, in 2006 when he was 19, playing in a multinational 6-a-side 5-overs cricket festival in Bankstown, Sydney and then in 2009 for a national cricket magazine. Here is an edited and abridged summary of our Q & A:
His favourite ground is Coogee Oval where he played first-grade for Randwick-Petersham (R-P). It beats SCG in scenic views every time!
Favourite moments — apart from being picked for Australia? “Perhaps my first first-class match for NSW against Victoria in February 2008 at the SCG when I scored 85 run out. Representing Australia in the Under-19 World Cup is another memory I cherish. Also scoring 120 for R-P against North Sydney when I was in my teens and being adjudged Player of the Championship in the Interstate Under-19 competition in 2005.”
Best memory outside cricket? “Gee, that’s a hard one. Umm, finishing my degree in flying; I felt so relieved!”
Your best innings? “My 172 not out for NSW against Western Australia in a Shield match [in 2008-09]. I hit 22 fours and two sixes which was very satisfying. Also scoring two consecutive double centuries for NSW 2nd XI in 2008; 210 not out against South Australia 2nd XI and 228 against Victoria 2nd XI.”
Best bowling spell? “When 15, I took four wickets for one run for R-P against Sutherland in a Green Shield Under-16 match.”
Batsman you respect most? “Simon Katich. He is so good. Everyone respects him. I love his batting and his temperament. “
Your hero? “Adam Gilchrist. As a boy I used to follow him wherever he played in Sydney. My childhood hero is boxing legend Mohammad Ali.”
Your hobby? “I play golf, handicap 10.”
Usman Khawaja arrived on the big scene last season when he hit three centuries for NSW in Sheffield Shield. Following his 554 runs (with two centuries) in 2008-09 in Shield matches, he exceeded all expectations when amassing 698 runs hitting three hundreds in 2009-10.
NSW was on its knees at 4 for 88 against Queensland in Brisbane when he registered his maiden first-class century in 2008-09. He followed this with an unbeaten 172 in the next match against Western Australia.
Such single-minded dedication deserves success and he is on his way up.
Simon Katich is full of praise for ‘Usie’ Usman.
So far Usman has scored 2068 runs at 51.70 in 27 first-class matches for NSW with six centuries (highest score 214) and 10 fifties.
His stylish batting and big scores this season are behind his much awaited Test call.
Having known Usman Khawaja since 2006 when he was barely 19, I will feel extremely nervous as he faces his first ball in Test cricket.
